M1 Service Centres

The M1 Freeway is a 130km stretch of road between Sydney and Newcastle. It is one of Australia’s busiest freeways and is home to only one service centre in each direction.

Tindale Property secured Option Agreements over two parcels of land on either side of the M1 freeway at Cooranbong with a view to secure rezoning approval to develop highway service centres, including petrol and food retail. The property was rezoned in September 2013.

 

In 2016, a development approval was obtained to accommodate two significant retail service centres that will provide 24 hour petrol, gas and diesel with separate areas for cars and trucks, 3 restaurants (with sit down and drive through facilities), a tourism information centre, toilets and wash rooms.

On completion the property will have a value in excess of $80m and will be tenanted by a major oil provider and a variety of fast food operators.

The properties were sold to a major oil provider in 2020 with commencement of construction anticipated within months.
